  • A detailed assessment is carried out to find out about your problems and how they affect you. This will include a full history of your complaint as well as any other factors that may have an influence such as medication, general health, life stresses and training regimes. Please bring any relevant medical documents you may have relating to your condition.

A thorough clinical examination includes looking at your posture, how you move, and how your joints move along with the strength and flexibility of your tissues. For the examination you will be required to expose the area or areas to be examined so you may wish to bring some shorts or a vest top if you’d prefer.

Your symptoms and history together with the physical examination are then analyzed to form a clinical diagnosis. The best treatment options will be discussed with you along with time goals for your recovery.

The aim of treatment is not only to help you to reduce symptoms and regain optimum function but also to address the cause (s) of the problem. At the end of your first session you will have a clear understanding of your condition and the treatment to be carried out. How many sessions you should require and what you need to do in order to aid your recovery.

Treatment at Keyingham Physiotherapy is designed to use the most appropriate intervention and is based on a “hands on” manual therapy approach. This includes mobilization, manipulation or specific soft tissue techniques. The most relevant exercises are prescribed to restore strength, balance and flexibility. These are checked and progressed at follow up. Relevant advice (including ergonomics and postural) will be included in the treatment.

You can refer yourself for physiotherapy directly or with a referral from your doctor or other health care professional. One-off appointments are available for assessment and specialist advice together with the best management options for your condition.
